A-Z Challenge: C is for Crisis


Everyone knows that’s the first thing you do when there is a crisis because who cares about facts, safety and critical thinking when you can ruuuuuuuuuun! The majority of people do not face their problems, forgetting that no matter where they go in this world they take themselves too! Issues, problems, crises… they do not just go away because we did and we will always be a part of the memory of the experience or a stigma that affects the future somehow.

So, here are things you can do for a crisis:

  1. Don’t panic.
  2. If you panic – stop it.
  3. Recall the situation with all the facts – if you can write, type or record them in anyway – do it.
  4. Approach the affected sides and discuss the problem and possible solutions.
  5. If your life is threatened – ruuuuuuuuuuuuuun!
  6. If you can’t run…

Taking things seriously on a crisis is a strength. So if someone starts laughing or becomes an attack dog on steroids… they are useless and should be separated from the situation because ain’t nobody got time for that! The best way is to use a mediator who has nothing to do with the crisis to offer insight and safe negotiation. If you cannot find anyone to help you… ruuuuuuuun!

The problem with crises is that they are by nature a chaos, so it takes much thinking to avoid having to run. Remember think of the situation, all sides envolved and, just in case, practice your sprints.
