Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie brings up something important: Africa is not the Africa that is bound within the limitation of news and how it portrays it. Africa is not the narrow view through that very controlled and malleable lens. People in Africa do not enjoy corruption. They are people who want development and technology for the good. The fight is ongoing for improvement in financial, governance and social values. Corruption is not one sided, there is a receiving end that is also corrupt. With transparency and reform of perspective and governance structures, it is possible for Africa to rise rather than keep depending on donations and what people say. She did not have slides. She did not need slides.
The discovery of the diversity in writing helped her develop her perspective on literature and literary arts. Literature steers thought towards an impression that is sometimes unchangeable. Default positions, patronizing mentalities and ignorant imperialism.
